Monthly Musings

Who We Are
Good afternoon and welcome to our enhanced regular monthly update titled "Monthly Musings". It is hard to believe that September 2020 has just rolled in with still a lot going on in both Australia and across the globe, and particularly with the US Election approaching.

This month's "Musings" delivers an update on market movements for August, we introduce our new video initiative "3 Minute Tech" which seeks to make complicated topics or concepts simple,  and then we delve into the topical COVID-19 Superannuation Release Scheme.

We also feature a short video interview with our Head of Adviser Support, Karen Kernaghan, suggest a great podcast to start listening to and finish with a another suggestion for a good book to read if you need one - so lots of interesting and useful material - we hope you enjoy!

Markets Update

Observations from August....
  • Local equity markets track higher as reporting season surprises to the upside with a majority of company earnings beating consensus views
  • Strong demand for the Australian dollar, a proxy for risk appetite, causes the currency to surge to new 12 month highs
  • Global stimulus continues to drag International markets higher despite a growing uncertain geopolitical outlook
  • Robust Chinese demand accompanied by a weaker US dollar adds to the performance of oil and iron ore

3 Minute Tech

One of our core pillars at Entrust is education, and sharing our knowledge with clients. With this in mind we are excited to introduce our video series "3 Minute Tech".

Our goal with these quick and to the point videos is to explain sometimes technically challenging topics in simple and easy to understand language.

Episode 1 focuses on "Who gets my Super when I die?"
