Good afternoon!

Each month we provide a wrap up of the market performance and some informative insights on various wealth management issues.

We hope you enjoy.

Markets Update as at the end of March

Observations from March.....

As can be seen, the major stock market indices continued to move higher in March. The ongoing roll out of the global vaccine was a support, together with the US being helped along by President Biden's $2 trillion dollar proposed infrastructure package. This infrastructure package is set to be paid for through an increase in the corporate tax rate and lifting taxes on company foreign earnings. The Gold and Iron Ore price eased as did the Australian Dollar against the US Dollar after briefly touching USD 0.80 cents in February.

The month of March cannot go past without mentioning the 400-metre-long Ever Given that ran aground blocking the ever important trade waterway of the Suez Canal. They managed to free the ship on the 29th of March, no small feat given the enormous size of it and the load it was carrying.

Book suggestion for the month

a fortunate life
A.B. Facey

Born in 1894, Facey lived the rough frontier life of a sheep farmer, survived the gore of Gallipoli, raised a family through the Depression and spent sixty years with his beloved wife, Evelyn. Despite enduring hardships we can barely imagine today, Facey always saw his life as a 'fortunate' one. A true classic of Australian literature, his simply written autobiography is an inspiration. It is the story of a life lived to the full - the extraordinary journey of an ordinary man.

That completes this month's edition of Monthly Musings. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance.

Until next month,

Kind regards from all the team at Entrust
